Old Or Refurbished Vintage Air Pistol?

So the big debate that always crops up in my circle of Air Gun friends do you keep it original and keep the original Patina that has built over up nearly 100 years or do you make it look like it has just left the factory.

Well I couldn’t decide so I bought two both Accles & Shelvoke ” The Warrior”

Old Or Refurbished Vintage Air Pistol?

One friend said “it’s a bit like owning a vintage car. You want it to be original as possible but most people would get it resprayed and the chrome redone so it looks good.”

Another said “Well when you come to sell it purists won’t buy the re blued one and would only be interested in the pistol with original Patina.

I guess if you don’t have it re blued you can always let the next man make that choice so you have both purists and refurb guys to sell to so you have more of a chance to sell it.

Another said “That’s a really good question. I think that restoration really depends on the item and how rusted it is. If a blued  item is extremely rusty and not super collectible, I would try to use oil and Big 45 Frontier rust removal tool. These work fantastically well and remove much of the rust but will not remove the original finish.”

I think both look great so i sit on the fence on this one…..for once in my life.
